There are a few reasons why this could be happening!
The most common being a blocked downpipe!
Rain water flows from your roof to your gutters and then on towards the downpipe to the drains. Over time, the rain water can push bits of moss, leafs, soil and anything birds leave behind into the outlet at the top of your downpipe. A common angle that looks like a 'dog leg' that brings the downpipe from your roof edge and closer to the wall is usually where the issue lies! This angle is the perfect place for debris to build up and eventually stop water flowing correctly, you may even see plant growth popping up from the top of your downpipe!

Other Reasons (but less common) Include..
Guttering Alignment - Over time, the clips holding your gutters can sag and cause the 'fall' of your gutter run to not reach the downpipe. A few replacement clips can resolve this, or at worst case a full gutter realignment may be needed.
Gutter Connection Joints - The rubber seals inside connection joints or 'couplers' that connect the lengths of guttering together can perish over time. This causes rainwater to drip through the joints, a common nuisance for older gutters! A simple seal around the joint can help resolve this issue, but if the gap is too big, a new coupler would be a good idea.
